This is a serial! The books in this series may have cliffhangers and hooks to make you want to continue to the next book. Do not begin if you don’t want to become addicted to the series! Southern Legacy will consist of four books– Belle of Charleston, Shadows of Magnolia, Born to Be Brothers and The Sun Rises. Enjoy!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to read the books in order. This is a SERIAL! One book ends and the other picks up where it left off. If you don’t like cliffhangers, wait until the release of the whole series. Then all the books will be offered as a box set and will as be released in print at that time.

Hi! How did you get the information about the story time? Family origins?

    • The characters are purely fictional, but several factors inspired the characters. When I was writing Tides of Charleston series, I was doing research on the Charleston area. I came across the Drayton plantation. One of the brothers fought for the Union during the Civil war. Percival Drayton served for the USS Navy; his brother, Thomas, served in the Confederate Army. It got me thinking of other Southerners that served for the Union. As for Josephine, my own grandmothers served as inspiration for personal reasons. One was their different backgrounds. One grew up in a well-respected Southern family; the other, grew up on what we used to call ‘the wrong side of the tracks.’ But both exemplified the meaning of a true Southern lady. (Lovely, wonderful women whom I still miss greatly). Suddenly…it just hit me…I realize that Clayton Montgomery reminds me of one of my grandfathers. My father inspired my love for history. He had a deep love and respect for this country.

Writing this Civil War Novel has been the most draining book I have written because it’s personal. My ancestors fought for the South. One of them was even killed in battle. I believe that an author leaves a piece of themselves in their writings. Southern Legacy is my journey to acceptance of the war. After the final conclusion is released this October, I will go into further detail about why its was so personal to me.

Saying all that, it is first and foremost a romance. I want you to step into the past and be swept away into Josephine’s world. I hope that was the answer you were seeking. Enjoy!
