SIX WAYS OF REDUCING YOUR HOLIDAY STRESS!

I have come up with SIX of reducing the holiday stress this year. Hope it helps you!

boooks

First one— Laugh!

Laugh! I would tell a joke, but the way I tell a joke is worse than a six-year old. You know what I’m talking about. You’ve seen others blow a joke. A sure sign is catching their breath a couple of times while they’re in the middle of the joke, while they are building the suspense. Then busting out laughing before the punch line. Yeah, that’s me.

Of course, there is the other extreme. The jokester who tells every detail and backs up when he forgets one (and he will forget one). By the time the punch line comes you’ve forgotten what he was even talking about. Then you have this dead air between you when he stops talking and you’re standing thinking of your grocery list for your Christmas dinner. That’s my husband.

I have an odd sense of humor. I love the jokes that are so stupid they’re funny. Case in point—one of my favorite movies when my kids were little was Spaced Invaders. I still laugh when I hear “Prepare to die earth scum!”  I feel the same way about the movie, Airplane. Not so much Dumb and Dumber or even The Hangover. For my husband, I don’t even have to ask what was one of his favorite funny movie. Ghostbusters! I swear he knew everyone word of the script. “Ray, Ray, Come in Ray!”

As for tv show, my favorite comedy was Modern Family. I still love it, but I watched Trophy Wife the other day online. Honestly, I didn’t think I would like it, but I couldn’t stop laughing.

Second one- Eat Chocolate!

No explanation needed.

2013-01-30 15.20.18Third One— Take a walk with your dog!

Now this suggestion is interesting. For me, talking Colbie for a walk causes more stress, but for most people taking time out in the fresh air with your loyal companion is enjoyable. It’s my fault that walking my dog is stressful. That’s because I have no control. My dog walks me. We see anything and everything she wants and at her pace. My daughter reprimands me all the time. Says I need to be the ‘pack leader’…I think she’s watched Dog Whisperer a little too much. Colbie and I are just fine.

Fourth one—  Take time off from work in the middle of the busy week.

You know you need to with the list you have, especially this year. There is only a short window of opportunity to shop. My children are older. So I can get by with gift cards and online shopping, but I have a few on my list I have to get gifts that I need to see to make sure its the right gift. It means battling the stores if you do it on the weekend. Mid-week—mid-day!

Fifth one— Relive a Memory!

Take time to remember your past. It made me smile just writing that line. You remember how you felt the night before Christmas. There is power in believing. The excitement and joy that the holidays held for you as a child. Waking up on Christmas morning and seeing if Santa came. He always did and he always bought me a doll. I was happy as long as I had that doll. I also loved Christmas Eve with all the cousins. Then Christmas day, the other side of the family would come. My grandmother. God Bless her. I can still see her so clearly. But I believe remembering good times warms the heart.

Sixth one-  Give!

It doesn’t have to be money. It can be time. Volunteer. Do a kind deed. Give encouragement.

So— I’m going to relieve some stress. I’m going to GIVE.

I have a few things going this holiday season. Over on GOODREADS I’m doing a giveaway. I’m giving away 5 signed copies of Fragmented at the end of the month. All you have to do is click a button to enter for your chance to win a signed copy!

The first in the Boston’s Crimes of Passion Series! A pulse-pounding thriller! Ms Connally’s first murder mystery delivers! Suspenseful…shocking…a psychological thriller— leaving readers on the edge of their seat.  Cameron Quinn is caught in a web of deceit. Protecting her brother from being framed for a murder places Cameron in untold danger. When the real killer diverts his attention to her, she has nowhere to turn, especially not to the man she shared one unforgettable night… who now is trying to put her brother in prison. A “must read” for any suspense lover!

She would do anything to protect her family…

Cameron Quinn watched her father fall into a world of despair after being falsely accused of causing her mother’s death. Now, her brother is a suspect in a crime she knows he’s not capable of committing. She’ll risk everything to save her brother from the same fate as her father, even destroying evidence that implicates him in a series of murders.

He would do anything to win a case…

ADA Darren Kennedy is known as ‘the bulldog.’ He doesn’t lose. When a killer emerges on the streets of Boston, he’s dead-set on putting that killer behind bars…along with anyone that stands in his way.

A killer would do anything to get his heart’s desire…

Cameron soon discovers that the police aren’t the only ones who suspect her of covering for her brother. The murderer is still out there and he isn’t happy his plans have been disrupted. DON’T FORGET FRAGMENTED’S RELEASE LAUNCH NEXT WEEK!

I’ll be giving away lots of goodies!

READY TO CELEBRATE!

It’s coming! Fragmented is to be released on Monday!

Oh…getting ahead of myself. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I had a lovely one. My brother-in-law had the family over at his home. Nothing like having a dinner at a chef’s house. It was good to see everyone. My kids are getting older and I know there will come a time when we all won’t be able to be together at the holidays. So I appreciated I had everyone. This afternoon, I’m going to the Hunger Games with my son and his girlfriend!

This year, though, I really missed not being at with my family down South. You would think I would have gotten used to being away after so many years. I don’t think it gets easier, especially after having such a great time in October. I guess it has to do with the fact my mother had a small stroke this year. I know its silly, but I don’t want anything to change. I wish I had a stop button at the moment and freeze time. Guess that’s not realistic. It’s just time is going by so fast! The best we can do is enjoy the moments in life.

And keep busy! It’s going to be a busy December. Monday Fragmented will be released! I’m so excited for this book! It’s my first venture into the world of contemporary suspense/thrillers. I have gotten some great feedback on the book! You can get a brief look over on Smashwords where its at on pre-release.

My other news is that Winds of Betrayal Boxed Set is up!

windsofbetrayalbundleI kept hitting a snag. So I reached out. When I went to my last NEC RWA conference, I attended Marie Force’s talk. She mentioned she had set up help for formatting called the Formatting Fairies. Being immersed in Fragmented’s release, I really didn’t have time to deal with the issues that I encountered with trying to bring up Winds of Betrayal Boxed Set. Formatting Fairies sent me back my manuscript right before Thanksgiving. Last night, I sat down for a moment. Two minutes later, Winds of Betrayal Box Set was up! Don’t know how they fixed my issue with my formatting, but it was the easiest that I’ve ever download my books. Highly recommend Formatting Fairies if you have an issue.

Now for those that wants the entire series up to this point under one cover…it’s here! After Fragmented’s release, my attention turns solely on The Heavens Shall Fall.

Don’t forget Fragmented’s Release Celebration! Monday-December 9th! Giveaways…giveaways…giveaways!

Moving into the Holidays!

The holidays are coming! Wasn’t it just yesterday? I’m at the stage in my life where my children are older. I loved it when they were little. There is nothing like their wide eyes on Christmas morning. I miss the excitement in the air. I remember one Christmas morning our son got us up along with his sisters at 4 in the morning. Yes, we had Santa that early. It’s one of those memories I cherish. My husband and I woke up to find our older two children surrounding our bed. My daughter who had to be all of 4 at the time bent over and whispered. “Santa came.” There was no getting them back to bed. So we had Santa at 4 in the morning. Boy, have times changed. Now, I can’t get them up.

Time is an issue. Already, I’m straight out. My mother’s been ill. I have a new release coming out in a couple of weeks. We’ve had work done to our home. I can’t get my bundle package of Winds of Betrayal formatted correctly…that’s been frustrating. The older I get, though, it seems the more patience I’ve become. I guess you learn that it will all work out. I can tell you I’ve never been a patient person. So this is a first for me.

I’m excited for the holidays this year. So much has happened in 2013 that I’m thankful for. Concerning my writing career, I became a best selling author. For that I’m honored and humbled. I’m looking forward to the New Year as well. I’m going to my first national conference. I’m going to be attending RomCon in Denver next June.

I had my first #1. Broken Legacy reached Amazon’s #1 historical romance.

My September release, Seductive Lies, has consistently maintained the top #100 in Gothic Romance.

I’m extremely excited about my first contemporary murder/mystery release. Fragmented is due to be released this coming December!

Coming December, 2013

At some point, I will have up my bundle package of Winds of Betrayal! For those that felt that The Cry For Freedom was too much of a cliffhanger, I will have all three of the series together for one purchase price. You can have the whole series at one time. Yes, this means I’m preparing for the upcoming release of The Heavens Shall Fall. Tentatively, The Heavens Shall Fall release should be Spring, 2014. Until then remember The Cry For Freedom is FREE!

windsofbetrayalbundleHere’s to the holidays! Hope everyone will have wonderful memories to hold to this year. Be safe! Have a good one!
